A big thank you to all who turned out for CricketForce day on Friday despite the weather forecast. We managed to get a great deal done in preparation for the season - see photograhs. Ace journalist Russ Smith was spotted removing weeds from the patio and first and second team captains Adie Manger and James Whittenbury were seen installing newly painted boundary boards - what are they planning? "Prof" Messenger was found inside the scout hut doing the technical jobs; rebuilding the sightscreen and sorting out the gangmowers. Big Hammy and Tony Herman have transformed the scorebox into a bijou weekend residence for Jan while Big Creedy polished the club silver. Special thanks to Paul Smith for driving out the germs in the bar and making the showers and changing rooms fit for humans again with his Ghostbuster equipment, and to Tommo, Caroline and Judy for feeding the 5000! Max and Martin Harris were spotted marking out the position of the prospective square on the new sports field! The nets will have to wait until better weather."
Aussie Ollie heads for Horspath
The ‘Path are pleased to welcome young Australian player, Oliver Robinson, to the Club for the
2008 season. Ollie is a left arm medium pace bowler and middle order RH batsman who plays
for Tasmania University Cricket Club in Hobart and Has represented Tasmania and Southern
Region as a youth cricketer. Oliie’s arrival continues a relationship with Tasmania that has seen
Ben Thompson and Ned Murray spend a season a Tas Uni in recent years and brought Adam Pitt
to us from Riverside last season.
Something of a sports all-rounder, Ollie plays football, Aussie Rules, athletics and tennis as well
as cricket and has won more awards than a night at the Oscars. When not playing sport he likes
music, movies, travel and has an interest in Computers.
Ollie is a gap year student and plans to study for a degree in Health Science at Tasmania
University on his return to Australia. His work experience includes organising a junior cricket
Tournament, builder’s labourer and working behind a bar so he should feel at home at the rec.
Ollie will be arriving on 29th April and staying at the Murray’s until Tom and Ned return from Uni
Or he gets a better offer (anyone have a spare room?). Ollie has a reputation as a hard and
conscientious worker and has a working visa so if you know of any employment opportunities from
Early May please let us know.
